The Anatomical Institute in Munich features a 342-square-meter exhibition collection with origins dating back to 1865. Expanded continuously over the decades and a central part of the Institute since 1907, the collection has now been restored following a major renovation of the historic building. It is open to students as well as the general public. Alongside contemporary anatomical teaching exhibits, the collection includes numerous historical specimens and models. Presented in 42 display cases and 18 additional exhibits, it offers a systematic overview of the organs of the human body through more than 2,000 objects and images. Animal skeletons provide comparative perspectives and help illustrate evolutionary development. Individual preparations, anatomical sections, and especially valuable historic models offer fascinating insight into the diversity of human form. The exhibition concludes with an introduction to medical imaging methods, giving a practical clinical view of the human body.
Please note that if you've booked a visit to the Anatomical Museum at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (led by Prof. Putz), you cannot book a guided walking tour of Munich-Schwabing at the same time.
